ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT RECOGNITION PROGRAM

The Washington Parish School Board realizes the importance of recognizing outstanding academic achievement attained by students.  Consequently, the Board has established an Academic Achievement Recognition Program composed of the following criteria.

  1. At the end of the school year, a professional type certificate will be awarded to each student in grades 4-12 who has attained an overall 3.0 grade point average (G.P.A.) or better.  A student with a “B” average determined by a G.P.A. of 2.5-2.9 is not eligible for this award.  The School Board will provide these certificates, and principals are to place their order with the Assistant Superintendent.

  2. Junior and senior high schools will implement plans to give students with distinguished academic achievement (3.5 G.P.A. or higher on final grades) honor and recognition comparable to those honors and recognition given for athletic achievement.

  3. Planned parental participation in academic awards programs will be promoted by each school.  A letter of congratulations extending an invitation will be sent to the parents of students receiving these academic awards.

  4. Annually, each school will conduct program(s) to honor those students who have met the criteria for recognition in academics.
