BEREAVEMENT LEAVE
The Washington Parish School Board may grant bereavement leave to employees in the event of the death of an immediate family member without the absence(s) being charged to either sick or personal leave. For the purpose of bereavement leave, immediate family shall be defined as the employee’s spouse, and the employee’s or spouse’s mother, father, child, or siblings.
Such leave may be administered as follows:
Three (3) days shall be granted for bereavement leave per school year. These three (3) days shall be taken within ten (10) work days of the death of the immediate family member. These three (3) days will not roll over.
The employee’s principal or supervisor must be notified prior at the beginning of the bereavement leave. The employee must submit a Bereavement Request within two (2) days of returning to work.
Bereavement leave days do not need to be taken consecutively.
