The Washington Parish School Board met in special session on the above date with the following members present: President Harold Smith, Juanita Barker, Holly James, Susanne Jones, Richard N. Thomas, Bruce Brown, and Freddie Jefferson. Absent: Karl Bickham and Hayward Boone.

The meeting was called to order by President Smith. He welcomed guests and news media present.

Agenda Item #4 - Consider a motion to adopt a resolution providing for canvassing the returns and declaring the result of the special election held in the Varnado School District of Washington Parish, Louisiana, on Saturday, November 15, 1997, to authorize the incurring of debt and issuance of bonds therein (Harold Smith).
Mr. David Wolf, Bonding Attorney with the firm of Foley & Judell, L.L.P., New Orleans, LA, reviewed the resolution to be adopted. Following discussion, it was moved by Freddie Jefferson, seconded by Bruce Brown, that the Board adopt the following resolution providing for canvassing the returns and declaring the result of the special election held in the Varnado School District of Washington Parish, Louisiana, on Saturday, November 15, 1997, to authorize the incurring of debt and issuance of bonds therein: SEE ATTACHED. FOR: Juanita Barker, Holly James, Susanne Jones, Harold Smith, Richard N. Thomas, Bruce Brown, and Freddie Jefferson. AGAINST: None. ABSENT: Karl Bickham and Hayward Boone. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #5 - Consider a motion to adopt a resolution authorizing the advertising for sealed bids for the purchase of One Million Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($1,250,000) of General Obligation School Bonds, Series 1998, of Varnado School District of the Parish of Washington, State of Louisiana; giving notice of official intent pursuant to Section 1.150-2 of the Treasury Regulations; and providing for other matters in connection therewith (Harold Smith).
Attorney David Wolf reviewed the resolution to be adopted.
