The Washington Parish School Board met in special session on the above date at Franklinton Jr. High School Auditorium with the following members present: President Bob D. Bateman, Jimmie Corkern, John Dawsey, Jr., Harold Smith, Bringier H. Barker, Susanne Jones, Richard N. Thomas, and Elaine Whaley. Absent: None.
The meeting was called to order by President Bateman. Invocation was given by John Dawsey.
President Bateman announced that the remaining interviews would be conducted at the School Board Office.
Agenda Item #1 - Interview of Cliff Wishum for position of Superintendent
The following prepared questions were asked of Mr. Wishum:
1. Tell us about yourself - Share with us your personal and professional life. Start as far back as you can remember.
2. Please describe your school district for us: Enrollment? Financial Base? Unique Features?
3. What have you learned or heard about our school district that interests or attracts you?
4. Tell us about your experience in settings comparable to ours - Washington Parish
5. What have you learned or heard about our school district that worries you?
6. What is your basic philosophy of education? Administration?
7. Discuss with us your philosophy of discipline strategies and discipline policies implementation. Have you had experience with effective discipline policies? Explain.
8. Tell us about your personal involvement in community affairs and activities.
9. What do you perceive to be some of the major problems in public education?
10. What is your philosophy regarding the role of extra-curricular programs within the school system?
11. Throughout your years of schooling, what extra-curricular activities were you involved with and to what extent?
12. What training and experience have you had in curriculum and instruction?
13. What experiences have you had with bond elections, building programs, facility utilization, etc?
14. What successful programs have you initiated? Unsuccessful?
15. Tell us about your professional association activities.

Agenda Item #2 - Executive Session under LA R.S. 42:6.1A(1) concerning the discussion of character, professional competence or physical or mental health of candidates for the position of Superintendent
It was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by Richard N. Thomas, that the Board enter into Executive Session under LA R.S. 42:6.1A(1) concerning the discussion of character, professional competence or physical or mental health of candidates for the position of Superintendent. Motion carried unainimously.
It was moved by John Dawsey, seconded by Susanne Jones, that the Board go out of Executive Session. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by John Dawsey, that the Board adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
