The Washington Parish School Board met in special session on the above date with the following members present: President Bob D. Bateman, Jimmie Corkern, John Dawsey, Jr., Harold Smith, Susanne Jones, and Richard N. Thomas. Absent: Elaine Whaley. The meeting was called to order by President Bateman. Invocation was given by John Dawsey. President Bateman welcomed the news media and guests.
President Bateman stated the purpose of the meeting was to open, review, and accept the low bid meeting specifications for the purchase of Band Uniforms for Franklinton High School.
On motion by Susanne Jones, seconded by John Dawsey, and unanimously carried, President Bateman opened the following bids:
1. The Fechheimer Bros. Co., Cincinnati, Ohio - $18,161-25
2. DeMoulin Bros., Greenville, Illinois - $20,193.75
President declared a 15-minute recess in order for the bid review committee to review the bids and make a recommendation to the Board
Upon re-convening, the committee recommended that the low bid submitted by Fechheimer Bros. Co not be accepted because it did not meet specifications. The committee recommended that the bid submitted by DeMoulin Bros. be accepted.
It was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by Jimmie Corkern, that the Board award the contract for the purchase of Band Uniforms for Franklinton High School to DeMoulin Bros. in the amount of $20,193.75, because the low bid submitted by The Fechheimer Bros. Co. did not meet specifications. Motion carried unanimously.
President Bateman declared the meeting adjourned.
