The Washington Parish School Board met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: President Bob D. Bateman, John Dawsey, Jr., Harold Smith, Susanne Jones, Bringier H. Barker, Richard N. Thomas, and Elaine Whaley. Absent: Jimmie Corkern. The meeting was called to order by President Bateman. Invocation was given by John Dawsey. President Bateman welcomed the news media, School Board Attorney Wayne Kuhn, and guests.
It was moved by Harold Smith, seconded by B. H. Barker, that the Board adopt the minutes of the January 14, 1993, board meeting, as submitted to each board member. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by Richard N. Thomas, that the Board accept the following committee assignments for the period January 28,

Upon the recommendation of Superintendent Brown, it was moved by Susanne Jones, seconded by John Dawsey, that the Board approve the following Personnel Adjustments, as presented by Dr. Guy Schilling, Assistant Superintendent:

RETIREMENT RESIGNATION:
Franklinton Primary School: Carlee Dillon, Lunchroom Worker, Retirement Resignation effective January 26, 1993.
Franklinton High School: Marion L. Hart, Lunchroom Worker, Retirement Resignation effective February 25, 1993.
REQUEST FOR SABBATICAL LEAVE:
Pine School: Judy A. Pigott-Carter, Special Education Teacher, Sabbatical Leave for Rest and Recuperation effective the Spring semester of the 1992-93 school year.
EXTENDED SICK LEAVE:
Franklinton High School: Blondine Duvall, Regular Teacher, Extended Sick Leave effective January 25, 1993, through
March 9, 1993 (30 days).
CHANGE OF EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
Franklinton High School: Diane Corkern, Half-time School Lunch Clerk, TO Half-time School Lunch Clerk and Half-time Lunchroom Worker, effective February 26, 1993.
EMPLOY:
Franklinton High School: Karen Barnette, Regular Teacher, effective January 25, 1993, through March 9, 1993 (30 days); fill-in for Blondine Duvall who will be on extended Sick Leave.
Motion carried unanimously. There were no Transportation Adjustments.
Applications will be accepted January 28, 1993, through February 4, 1993, for a half-time lunchroom worker at Franklinton High School and a full-time lunchroom worker at Franklinton Primary School. Only those applicants residing in the Franklinton-Enon geographic area will be considered for these positions.
Superintendent Brown announced that the following three (3) students at Franklinton High School have been named to the Louisiana 1992 Academic All-State Football Team:

It was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by Susanne Jones, that the Board send letters of commendation to these students. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by Harold Smith, that the Board approve the following Special Education contract:
Ed Desporte, Audiologist - Contract period: January 25, 1993 - June 30, 1993, to provide audiological exams to designated students at $40.00 per case, and impedance measurements to designated students at $27.00 per case.
Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Susanne Jones, seconded by Harold Smith, that the Board support a proclamation by Governor Edwards naming February 14-29, 1993, as Vocational Education Week in Louisiana. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Susanne Jones, seconded by Richard N. Thomas, that the Board appoint Brenda Williams (Angie) and Murdock Brumfield (Franklinton) to serve on the Special Education Advisory Council. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by Harold Smith, that the Board allow Billy Ray Sumrall to address the Board. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Sumrall expressed dissatisfaction with the parking fee being charged students at Franklinton High School to park in the student parking lot; he thought all persons should pay the parking fee, not just students.
On motion by Harold Smith, seconded by John Dawsey, and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned.
