Franklinton, Louisiana

The Washington Parish School Board met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: President Harold Smith, Jimmie Corkern, John Dawsey, Jr., Susanne Jones, Bringier H. Barker, Bob D. Bateman, Joe Whaley, and Richard N. Thomas. Absent: None. The meeting was called to order by President Smith. Invocation was given by John Dawsey. President Smith welcomed the news media, School Board Attorney Wayne Kuhn, and guests.

 

It was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by Susanne Jones, that the Board adopt the minutes of the September 26, 1991, board meeting, as submitted to each board member. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Upon the recommendation of Superintendent Brown, it was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by Bob Bateman, that the Board renew the Policy Updating Service with Educational Management Services for the period November 1, 1991 ‑October 31, 1992, for a fee of $1,455.00. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Upon the recommendation of Superintendent Brown, it was moved by Jimmie Corkern, seconded by Bob Bateman, that the Board approve the following Personnel Adjustments as presented by Dr. Guy Schilling, Assistant Superintendent:

 

PERSONNEL ADJUSTMENTS EMPLOY:

 

Franklinton Primary School:  Pauline Hart, Special Education Paraprofessional (P.T.U.), effective October 14, 1991, and for the remainder of the 1991‑92 school year only (call back).

 

Franklinton Primary School:  Debbie Berry, Special Education Paraprofessional, effective October 14, 1991, and for the remainder of the 1991‑92 school year only.

 

Franklinton Jr. High School:  Rodney Painting, Regular Teacher, effective September 30, 1991, and for the remainder of the Fall semester only of the 1991‑92 school year (fill‑in for Faye Miller who is on sabbatical leave).

 

Franklinton Jr. High School:  Ann Cuffee, Regular Teacher, effective October 1, 1991, and for the remainder of the 1991‑92 school year only (Circular 665).

 

Franklinton High School:  Lucille Wade, Child Specific Aide, effective August 14, 1991, and for the 1991‑92 school year only.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

It was moved by Jimmie Corkern, seconded by Joe Whaley, that the Board authorize Superintendent Brown and President Smith to enter into contract with Riverside Home Health Care Program of Riverside Medical Center to provide physical therapy services for the Special Education Program at a rate of $40‑00 per one (1) hour session per child and 24cents/mile mileage reimbursement between resource centers. Motion carried unanimously. The contract will, be in effect until July 31, 1992.

 

It was moved by John Dawsey, seconded by Richard N. Thomas, that the Board authorize Superintendent Brown and President Smith to enter into contract with Ed Desporte, Audiologist, to provide audiological examinations and Impedance measurements to designated students at a rate of $37.00 per audiological examination and $27.00 per Impedance measurement. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Superintendent Brown informed the Board that the Washington Parish Vocational Center will be used October 19, 1991, as Ward 3 Voting Precinct 3 for primary election due to the Washington Parish Fair.

 

It was moved by Bob Bateman, seconded by Joe Whaley, that the Board enter into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing a personnel matter. Motion carried unanimously.

 

It was moved by B. H. Barker, seconded by Bob Bateman, that the Board go out of Executive Session. Motion carried unanimously.

 

It was moved by Joe Whaley, seconded by Richard N. Thomas, that the Board adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
