The Washington Parish School Board met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: John Wyble, Bruce Brown, Robert Boone, Kendall McKenzie, Alan McCain, Lesley McKinley, and Dewitt Perry. Absent: Dan Slocum and Frankie Crosby.
Agenda Item #1 - Call to order
The meeting was called to order by President John Wyble.
Agenda Item #2 – Invocation
The invocation was given by Bruce Brown.
Agenda Item #3 – Pledge of Allegiance
Agenda Item #4 – Recognize LSBA Art Winners (Tricia Smith).
Tricia Smith, Director of Student Support Services recognized Ms. Sheryl Holliday. Ms. Holliday then recognized the following LSBA parish art winners at the committee meeting on Monday night:

Agenda Item #5 - Awards Presentation – Students of the Year (Sandy Morgan).
The Guidelines for Selection of Candidates were used to select the winners at the school and the parish level. The four categories for selection included the cumulative grade point average, a portfolio of supporting documents, writing samples, and an interview with the judges.
Sandy Morgan recognized each student and their respective school principal presented them plaques from the Washington Parish School System:

Agenda Item #6 – Consider a motion to adopt the minutes of the March 18, 2021, regular board meeting (John Wyble).
It was moved by Alan McCain, seconded by Robert Boone, that the Board adopt the minutes of the March 18, 2021, regular board meeting as presented to each member. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #7 – Presentation on February 2021 financial statements (Lacy Burris).
Lacy Burris, Director of Finance, presented the February 2021 financial statements for the following funds:
General Fund
School Lunch Fund
Tax District #4 Bond Sinking Fund
Agenda Item #8 – Consider a motion to authorize advertisement for bids for the purchase of school supplies for the 2021/2022 school year (Lacy Burris).
It was moved by Kendall McKenzie, seconded by Dewitt Perry, that the Board authorize advertisement for bids for the purchase of school supplies for the 2021/2022 school year. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #9 – Consider a motion to adopt the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy (Grades K-2) Grant budget for the 2020/2021 fiscal year (Lacy Burris).
It was moved by Dewitt Perry, seconded by Robert Boone, that the Board adopt the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy (Grades K-2) Grant budget for the 2020/2021 fiscal year. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #10 – Consider a motion to authorize advertisement for bids for the purchase of small equipment, cleaning supplies, food and non-food supplies for the School Lunch Program for the 2021/2022 school year (Amanda Stafford).
It was moved by Kendall McKenzie, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board authorize advertisement for bids for the purchase of small equipment, cleaning supplies, food and non-food supplies for the School Lunch Program for the 2021/2022 school year. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #11 – Consider a motion to approve revisions to the Student Code of Conduct Grades Pre-K – 5 for the 2021/2022 school year (Mike Ingram).
It was moved by Alan McCain, seconded by Robert Boone, that the Board approve the Student Code of Conduct Grades Pre-K – 5 for the 2021/2022 school year as presented with no revisions. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #12 – Consider a motion to approve revisions to the Student Code of Conduct Grades 6 – 12 for the 2021/2022 school year (Mike Ingram).
It was moved by Kendall McKenzie, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board approve the Student Code of Conduct Grades 6 - 12 for the 2021/2022 school year as presented with no revisions. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #13 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding bids received on surplus equipment (Shane Smith).
It was moved by Dewitt Perry, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board approve the bid of $800.00 from Darron Cooper for the purchase of a 2000 ¾ ton GMC truck. Motion carried unanimously. One other bid submitted by JJ Merchant in the amount of $529.95.
Agenda Item #14 – Consider a motion to adopt revised Washington Parish School Board Policy File: GBN – Separation of Employment (Mary Jones).
It was moved by Robert Boone, seconded by Dewitt Perry, that the Board adopt revised Washington Parish School Board Policy File: GBN – Separation of Employment. Motion carried unanimously.
