The Washington Parish School Board met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Dan Slocum, John Wyble, Bruce Brown, John Breland, Matthew Tate, Alan McCain, Robert Boone, Dewitt Perry and Lesley McKinley. Absent: none.
Agenda Item #1 - Call to order
The meeting was called to order by President Matthew Tate.

The invocation was given by Bruce Brown.
Agenda Item #3 – Pledge of Allegiance
Agenda Item #4 – Recognize 2018 Teachers of the Year (Mary Jones).
The 2018 teachers of the year were recognized at tonight’s meeting. The teacher was presented a plaque by their principal. Superintendent Darrell Fairburn then presented a plaque to the parish winners. The Board congratulated all teachers.

Agenda Item #5 – Consider a motion to adopt the minutes of the December 7, 2017, regular board meeting (Matthew Tate).
It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by Dewitt Perry, that the Board adopt the minutes of the December 7, 2017, regular board meeting as submitted to each member. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #6 – Consider a motion to adopt a resolution to call special elections in Consolidated School District No. 4 and Angie-Varnado Consolidated School District to authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds (Darrell Fairburn).
It was moved by Dewitt Perry, seconded by John Breland, that the Board table this item until a special called meeting on February 19, 2018. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #7 – Announce intent to call special elections in Consolidated School District No. 4 and Angie-Varnado Consolidated School District to authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds (Darrell Fairburn).

Notice of Public Meeting
Notice is hereby given that at its meeting to be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.at the Parish School Board Office, 800 Main Street, Franklinton, Louisiana, the Parish School Board of the Parish of Washington, State of Louisiana, plans to consider adopting a resolution ordering and calling elections to be held in (i) Consolidated School District No. 4 of the Parish of Washington, State of Louisiana and (ii) Angie-Varnado Consolidated School District of the Parish of Washington, State of Louisiana to authorize the issuance of general obligation bonds.
Agenda Item #8 – Consider a motion to call a special board meeting on February 19, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. to adopt a resolution to call special elections to issue general obligation bonds (Darrell Fairburn).
It was moved by Lesley McKinley, seconded by John Wyble, that the Board call a special board meeting on February 19, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. to adopt a resolution to call special elections to issue general obligation bonds. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #9 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding bids received on equipment for the School Lunch program that was awarded through a Federal Assistance Equipment Grant (Marsha Newman).
It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by Dewitt Perry, that the Board approve the bids received to purchase equipment awarded through a Federal Assistance Grant as follows:

It was moved by Dewitt Perry, seconded by Lesley McKinley, that the Board adopt revised Washington Parish School Board Policy File: DFN – Sale of Buildings and Land; File: ECA – Authorized Use of Equipment; File: GBC – Recruitment; and File: GBRIB – Sick Leave. Motion carried unanimously.

Agenda Item #12 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding Transportation Adjustments (Shane Smith).
It was moved by Dan Slocum, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board adopt the Transportation Adjustments as follows:
TRANSPORTATION ADJUSTMENTS
Franklinton District: Extend the route of Loretta Stafford 2 miles one way to pick up students on Carol Morgan and Chapel Hill Roads. Effective date: December 18, 2017.
Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #13 - Superintendent’s Report
Add to the Agenda: It was moved by Dewitt Perry, seconded by Alan McCain, to consider a motion to authorize the demolition and removal of the old Franklinton High School Baseball Stadium. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Dewitt Perry, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board authorize Keith Voth Dozer, Franklinton, LA to demolish and clear the old Franklinton High School Baseball Stadium for $13,920.00. Motion carried unanimously. Other quotes submitted: JB Enterprises, Franklinton, LA - $23,000.00 and DO Fussell Contracting, Franklinton, LA - $24,350.00.
Young Americans will be held January 18 – 20, 2018.
Wayne Kuhn introduced his new business partner, Attorney Matt Garver.
Agenda Item #14 - Personal Privileges – School Board Members
President Matthew Tate handed out new committee assignments for 2018.

It was moved by John Breland, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
