Agenda Item #4 – Recognition of Penny Moses, LAPCAE Administrator of the Year (Darrell Fairburn).

Superintendent Fairburn recognized Ms. Penny Moses. Supervisor of Adult Education for being selected as the 2017 LAPCAE Adult Education Administrator of the Year.

On July 30, 2017, The LAPCAE (Louisiana Association for Public, Community, and Adult Education) convened for its 42nd Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.  “Partners in Progress,” the theme of this year’s conference emphasized premier professional development for adult educators.

LAPCAE’s awards program is a highlight of the conference.  On August 1, 2017 during the awards ceremony, Washington Parish Adult Education Supervisor, Penny Moses was awarded the prestigious honors of being named “Adult Education Administrator of the Year.”

Ms. Moses has provided committed, consistent, and dedicated service working with the community in providing adult education for students in Washington Parish.   As an educator, she has had the opportunity to impact the lives of hundreds of students.

My hope is that the vision of adult education remains a resource for the neediest.  Famously quoted by Mother Teresa ,– “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one!”  And by Winston Churchill - “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” are two of my favorite quotes. Ms. Moses believes that these quotes should inspire all of us to persevere and help those who need it most.

The Board congratulated Ms. Moses on her award.
