The Washington Parish School Board met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Dan Slocum, John Wyble, Bruce Brown, John Breland, Alan McCain, Matthew Tate, Robert Boone, Dewitt Perry and Lesley McKinley. Absent: None.
Agenda Item #1 - Call to order
The meeting was called to order by President Matthew Tate.

The invocation was given by Bruce Brown.

Agenda Item #4 – Recognize 2016 Teachers of the Year (Mary Jones).
The 2016 teachers of the year were recognized at tonight’s meeting. The teacher was presented a plaque by their principal. Superintendent Darrell Fairburn then presented a plaque to the parish winners. The Board congratulated all teachers.

Agenda Item #5 – Consider a motion to adopt the minutes of the July 14, 2016 regular board meeting (Matthew Tate).
It was moved by Dan Slocum, seconded by John Breland, that the Board adopt the minutes of the July 14, 2016, regular board meeting as submitted to each member. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #6 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding Pupil Progression Plan revisions for the 2016/2017 school year (Jackie Jenkins).
It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by John Breland, that the Board adopt the Pupil Progression Plan revisions for the 2016/2017 school year as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #7 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding a Cooperative Agreement to support and administer Louisiana Extension 4-H Youth Development and other Extension Programs (Darrell Fairburn).
It was moved by John Breland, seconded by Dewitt Perry, that the Board approve a Cooperative Agreement to support and administer Louisiana Extension 4-H Youth development and other extension programs. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #8 – Consider a motion to adopt a resolution for assignment of Mineral Lease at Angie (Darrell Fairburn).
It was moved by John Breland, seconded by John Wyble, that the Board adopt a resolution for assignment of Mineral Lease at Angie. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #9 - Consider a motion to adopt a resolution entering into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with Pine Jr. Athletic Football Association (Darrell Fairburn).
It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by John Breland, that the Board adopt a resolution entering into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with Pine Jr. Athletic Football Association. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #10 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding Apple Watches (Frances Varnado).
It was moved by Dan Slocum, seconded by Dewitt Perry, that the Board add all smart watches in the Code of Conduct to be charged the same penalty as a cell phone. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #11 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding the Board’s liability insurance (Beth Keaton).
It was moved by Dewitt Perry, seconded by Robert Boone, that the Board approve Gallagher Insurance with an annual premium of $189,522.00 for the Board’s liability insurance. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #12 – Consider a motion to authorize advertisement for the sale of a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix (Grand Gerald).
It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by John Breland, that the Board authorize advertisement for the sale of a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #13 – Consider a motion to authorize advertisement for the sale of a 1993 Bluebird Bus (Grant Gerald).
It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by Dewitt Perry, that the Board authorize advertisement for the sale of a 1993. Bluebird Bus. Motion carried unanimously.

Superintendent Fairburn stated that an advertisement was being placed in local newspapers for the recruitment of teachers. The Have a Degree, Become a Teacher campaign is underway.
