The Washington Parish School Board met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Dan Slocum, John Wyble, Bruce Brown, Alan McCain, Matthew Tate, Robert Boone, Dewitt Perry and Lesley McKinley.  Absent: John Breland.

 

Agenda Item #1 - Call to order

 

The meeting was called to order by President Matthew Tate. 

 

Agenda Item #2 – Invocation

 

The invocation was given by Bruce Brown.

 

Agenda Item #3 – Pledge of Allegiance

 

Agenda Item #4 - Consider a motion to adopt the minutes of the January 14, 2016, regular board meeting (Matthew Tate).

 

   It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board adopt the minutes of the January 14, 2016, regular board meeting as presented to each member.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Agenda Item #5 – Consider a motion to adopt the 2016/2017 school calendar (Darrell Fairburn).

 

It was moved by Alan McCain, seconded by Bruce Brown, that the Board adopt the 2016/2017 school calendar as follows:

Agenda Item #6 - Discuss and take appropriate action regarding selection of an architect (Darrell Fairburn).

 

It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board table selection of an architect until the March meeting.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Agenda Item #7 – Consider a motion to adopt a resolution entering into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Franklinton Dixie Baseball Association (Darrell Fairburn).

It was moved by John Wyble, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board adopt a resolution to enter into a cooperative endeavor agreement with the Franklinton Dixie Baseball Association in the form and substance substantially as stated in 'Exhibit A' commencing on January 1, 2016 and terminating on December 31, 2025.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Agenda Item #8 - Discuss and take appropriate action regarding bids received on surplus equipment (Richard Kennedy).

 

It was moved by Alan McCain, seconded by Dewitt Perry, that the Board approve a bid on a 2003 GMC Sierra C2500 HD Pickup Truck in the amount of $3,550.00 from Ronald Toomer.  Motion carried unanimously.  One other bid of $3,000.00 was submitted.

            Franklinton Jr. High School:  Katharine James, Regular Teacher, Resignation effective January 27, 2016.

            Franklinton High School:  Jeremy Henriques, Regular Teacher, Resignation effective January 29, 2016.

EMPLOY

            Franklinton Jr. High School:  Doris Andrews, Special Education Child Specific Paraprofessional, Employ effective February 1, 2016 (Replacing Kim Miller).

            Franklinton Jr. High School:  Tabitha Simmons, Regular Teacher, Employ effective January 28, 2016 (Replacing Katharine James).

            Franklinton High School:  Carly Wascom, Gifted Talented/Special Education Paraprofessional, Employ effective February 1, 2016.

            Varnado High School:  Karen Ballard, Regular Teacher, Employ effective February 1, 2016 (Replacing Dorey Ball).

CONTRACT RENEWAL

            Central Office:  Sheryl Holliday, Intervention Coordinator, Contract renewal from February 14, 2016 – February 13, 2018.
