The Washington Parish School Board met in regular session on the above date with the following members present: Dan Slocum, John Wyble, Bruce Brown, John Breland, Alan McCain, Matthew Tate, Dewitt Perry and Lesley McKinley.  Absent:  Mary Adams.

 

Agenda Item #1 - Call to order

 

The meeting was called to order by President Matthew Tate.

 

Agenda Item #2 – Invocation

 

The invocation was given by Bruce Brown.

 

Agenda Item #3 – Pledge of Allegiance

 

  Agenda Item #4 – Consider a motion to adopt the minutes of the December 5, 2013, regular board meeting (Matthew Tate).

 

  It was moved by Alan McCain, seconded by John Breland, that the Board adopt the minutes of the December 5, 2013, regular board meeting as submitted to each member.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

  Agenda Item #5 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding Bulletin 118 – Statewide Assessment Standards and Practices (Frances Varnado).

 

It was moved by Dewitt Perry, seconded by Lesley McKinley, that the Board approve Bulletin 118 – Statewide Assessment Standards and Practices as presented.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

  Agenda Item #6 – Discuss and take appropriate action regarding repairs to the old Pine gym (Billy Brignac).

 

Upon the recommendation of Billy Brignac, Supervisor, it was moved by John Breland, seconded by Bruce Brown, that the Board approve the quote from Double J Environmental Services, LLC, Walker, LA in the amount of $8,900.00 for the removal of the gym floor at the old Pine gym.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Other quotes submitted:  Insul-Tech, Harvey, LA - $11,250.00.

Pine School:  Brandon Lebo, Regular Teacher, Employ effective January 6, 2014 and the remainder of the 2013/2014 school year only (Replacing Tate Kennedy).

Agenda Item #8 - Discuss and take appropriate action regarding Transportation Adjustments (Richard Kennedy).

 

It was moved by Dewitt Perry, seconded by Alan McCain, that the Board adopt the transportation adjustments as follows:

 

TRANSPORTATION ADJUSTMENTS

Franklinton District:     Extend the route of Melaney Rauch 3.2 miles one way to pick up a student on Willie Dillon Road.  Effective date:  December 16, 2013.

Extend the route of Loretta Stafford 2.2 miles one way to pick up a student on Tycer Varnado Road.  Effective date:  October 24, 2013.

Extend the route of Randy Welch 6.6 miles one way to pick up a student on Vernon Subdivision Road.  Effective date:  December 6, 2013.         

Motion carried unanimously.

Agenda Item #10 - Personal Privileges – School Board Members

 

The Board thanked Charlotte Fasola and Sandy Morgan for their dedication to the system.

 

Agenda Item #11 - Consider a motion to enter into Executive Session under LA R.S. 42:17A (2) concerning prospective litigation.

 

It was moved by Alan McCain, seconded by John Wyble, to enter into Executive Session under LA R.S. 42:17A (2) concerning prospective litigation.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Agenda Item #12 - Consider a motion to return to regular session.

 

It was moved by Alan McCain, seconded by Dewitt Perry, that the Board return to regular session.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Agenda Item #13 - Consider a motion to adjourn.

 

It was moved by Alan McCain, seconded by John Breland, that the Board adjourn.  Motion carried unanimously.
