The Washington Parish School Board met in special session on the above date with the following members present: Richard Thomas, Jr., Dan Slocum, Karl Bickham, Bruce Brown, Hayward Boone, Susanne Jones, Holly James, Matthew Tate and Freddie Jefferson. Absent: None.
Agenda Item #1 - Call to order
The meeting was called to order by President Richard Thomas, Jr. He welcomed School Board Attorney Wayne Kuhn, news media and guests.
Agenda Item #2 - Invocation
The invocation was given by Matthew Tate.
Agenda Item #3 - Pledge of Allegiance
Agenda Item #4 - Discuss and take appropriate action regarding quotes received on flooring at Franklinton High School (William Brignac).
Upon the recommendation of William Brignac, Supervisor of Maintenance, it was moved by Karl Bickham, seconded by Susanne Jones, that the Board approve the low quote from Mike's Flooring, Franklinton, LA in the amount of $40,819.70 for flooring at Franklinton High School. Motion carried unanimously. Other quote submitted: Kennedy's Decorating, Franklinton, LA - $43,023.31.
Agenda Item #5 - Superintendent Search Committee (Richard Thomas)
President Thomas introduced Ms. Loe Dunn and Mr. Sonny Savoie from McPherson and Jacobson.
Agenda Item #6 - Consider a motion to enter into Executive Session under LA R.S. 42:6.1A(1) concerning the discussion of character, professional competence or physical or mental health of candidates for the position of Superintendent (Richard Thomas).
It was moved by Freddie Jefferson, seconded by Matthew Tate, that the Board enter into Executive Session under LA R.S. 42:6.1A(1) concerning the discussion of character, professional competence or physical or mental health of candidates for the position of Superintendent. Motion carried unanimously.
Agenda Item #7 - Consider a motion to return to regular session.
It was moved by Dan Slocum, seconded by Matthew Tate, that the Board return to regular session. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Freddie Jefferson, seconded by Matthew Tate, that the Board call Special Board meetings on July 31, 2006 through August 3, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. to enter into executive session to interview candidates for Superintendent and August 4, 2006 at 6:30 P. M. for the purpose of hiring a Superintendent. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Matthew Tate, seconded by Susanne Jones, that the Board accept the following candidates as recommended by McPherson and Jacobson:
